New Hospital project for the Clawsons

Not long after Terri and I moved to Tinian, and prior to Terri beginning work at the Hospital, we decided to paint Terri's office and hang some pictures taken by Liz. We were determined to continue to 'spruce up' the hospital as time and means enabled us.

Now we have begun another project at the hospital: we are remodeling one of the rooms were patients are cared for next to the emergency room. Most of the very ill patients--those who would be staying over-night and for longer periods of time--stay in this room. We wanted the healing atmosphere to be improved in this room that is used so much by the sick and their families.

So, now that the remodeling of the front offices of the hospital are completed, we are using some of the men who had been working there to remodel this patient room. This will include installing a new tile floor in the bathroom, and fixing and updating the bathroom facilities. It will also include installing new linoleum in the room, new sheetrock on one wall, and, of course, new paint. The paint will be a nice COLOR, to brighten the room, and will be further enhanced by pictures on the walls and new curtains at the windows.

It should only take a few days. The hardest part about the project is picking the color to be used in the room. We want it bright and cheerful, but not too bright to be distracting. We will see. The nice thing about paint is that if you don't like it, you can always change it!

Hopefully, once done, the room will bring a calming, healing influence to the patients cared for there. Instead of lying in bed looking at dingy walls and stained sheetrock, they will be enveloped in a warm color and have beautiful pictures of their island paradise to gaze upon.

In fact, emerald, we do. We're going to choose from your recent island pictures and have them made into . . . about 11 x 14 and 8 x 10 and hang them in the room. For those of you who would like to see some of those pictures, go to www.elizabethclawson.com
