A new medical age is here!

The new medical equipment being donated to Tinian Hospital has arrived. It is so small...it is hard to believe that it can actually do anything. But, it seems to be able to do everything. The concept is brilliant: just as astronomers can tell what a planet or star is made of by analysing the light hitting earth, the same principle is being used to analyze blood. By passing light through a small drop of blood, the machine can tell almost everything about someone.

So...this is how it works:

1. A drop of blood is placed in the center of a disk containing multiple cells around the edge of the disk. Each cell, or chamber, has chemicals in it that performs a specific test.

2. The disk is placed in the machine and spun at high speed to transfer the blood into all of the individual cells and combines with the chemicals in each of those chambers.

3. Light is then passed through each blood test to obtain the result.

4. The blood results are then printed out.

One drop of blood, a push of a button, and more than a dozen tests can be done in minutes! What an age we live in. The size of the machine is about the same as a toaster.
So the Piccolo Xpress, and a fridge full of stuff, is now on Tinian, ready to serve those in need. Thanks to all those who participated in the Clawson/Hopkins Foundation gift!
