Latte stones, memorials and cemtaries

Today Liz and I decided to travel to see the secret latte stones at the end of Tachagna beach. Then, staying on that theme, we went to the large latte stones at House of Taga. Next to these large latte stones was a small Japanese memorial. We finished by visiting the Tinian cemetery. The last site might seem strange, but Tinian has one of the most beautiful cemeteries and grave sites I have ever seen. It reminds me of the old cemeteries in New Orleans.

We also stopped to the the Tinian rock quarry. Much of the contruction material used on the island comes from this limestone quarry: road base, house foundations, cement, limestone gravel, etc. We finished our day by going to see the show at the Dynasty Casino. Local Chamorro dancers put on a show for the guests a couple of times a week. The show includes dances and even fire throwers. There was a large group of Chinese tourists there (one of the largest we have seen), so it was hard to see. But it was also fun--lots of audience participation!

As usual, I acted as mule all day while Liz took pictures. I am trying to see through her eyes...standing behind her as she 'sees' the pictures in her mind. I have no doubt about her talent--I have seen her work--I just don't fully understand the process. Somehow she can see a great picture where I just see rocks!

Liz also sacrifices her body for her work--contorting her body and laying on the ground, etc., in order to get just the right view of her subject. Besides not having the talent, I just don't think I have the desire to put forth that much work to get the right shot! I just point and click...
