Back to the lower Marpo Valley

I still try to walk every day, while Terri is a work and Liz is still asleep. This morning I walked up the hill, then east into the Marpo Valley, and walked down one road I had not been before. This will finish my walk through the Marpo Valley South (I still have some of Marpo Valley North to go through). This afternoon Terri is supposed to be off work--actually, she wasn't even on the schedule to work today, but went in anyway as she had patients she was concerned with.

Unlike most places in the US, Terri can and does make house calls! I have gone with her a few times. There is nothing more interesting and moving than making a house call with Terri. The family is always so grateful for the visit, and the respect they give to Terri as she cares for their loved ones--most of which are on death's door, as they are too ill to come to the hospital--is very emotional for everyone involved. How blessed they are to have someone as caring as Terri on island to watch over them, and how blessed we are to be invited into the sanctity of their homes to feel the love and tenderness they show towards their family members that are so ill. It is a marvelous and moving experience. Too bad it has gone out of fashion in the states!
