Each year the island of Tinian provides various jobs for the youth of the island. Some are working at the schools, some at the medical clinic, and those pictured above are working at the local gym. Each morning they arrive to clean the building, and during the day they work with other young children in teaching them how to play basketball, volleyball, etc.
There are a number of new businesses that have opened recently. This is a barbecue shack that opened--we haven't been yet, but there is always a wonderful aroma coming from the building whenever we pass.
There is a new lumber yard and hardware store coming (I don't think it is open yet)
There is a new nightclub that has opened, and another barbecue shack.
Work continues on the new duplex not far from where we live.
Another barbecue is opening right across from the Dynasty Hotel. They are not open yet, but will have a large open-air eating area. They will be competing directly with the Dyansty's barbecue--although the Dynasty includes a cultural show with local dancers and even has fire throwers as part of their show!
Just another day on Tinian...
The new casino up on the hill is slowly taking shape. They have been building housing for the workers, and doing some foundation work.
