Reflections of the Tinian Fiesta

A reader sent me these pictures, and reflections of the wonderful Tinian Fiesta that ended last weekend:

Rina Palacios, daughter of Peter and Bernie Palacios, performed for
an enthusiastic crowd.

Tinian Elementary School dancers performed several numbers for an
enthusiastic crowd.

Tinian's "man amko" are seen here enjoying the 2009 San Jose Fiesta:

Local band, Burning Bush, performed during the 2009 San Jose Fiesta.

The feast on Saturday, May 2, 2009 included hundreds of dishes from
each island family and the Tinian Mayor's Office.

Several cows (shown here) and pigs were roasted whole for the island
feast on Saturday, May 2, 2009.

San Jose Church parishioners are seen here at the start of the Mass
honoring Saint Joseph, the celebrant of the island's annual fiesta.
Seen here leading the procession is Tinian's Mayor, Jose P. San Nicolas.

Parishioners here are seen carrying a statue of Saint Joseph, the
patron saint of the island's annual fiesta held every first week of May.

Herman's Modern Bakery provided several cakes commemorating the
Tinian Fiesta.

The newly crowned 2009 San Jose Fiesta King, [Hofschneider], son of
Alice U. Hofschneider. stands before the crowd. Hosts Nathaniel
Hofschneider and Jennifer San Nicolas, background, look on.

Sere Ima Sanchez, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Juan A. Sanchez, is shown
here being crowned the 2009 San Jose Fiesta Queen.

The 2008 San Jose Fiesta Queen and King bid their farewell to the crowd.
