Herds of goats

Just one of the many family shrines that can be found attached to family homes on Tinian

The Tinian Dynasty Casino can easily be seen by visitors coming down the hill from the airport

On that same hill there was a fire that raged for a short time, blackening one side of the road

Roadwork continues at a fast pace, with the concrete curbing now going into place

On one side you can see the completed curb, on the other the framing for the other side

Always a pleasure to walk around the island...

There was additional work being done on one of the side-roads

One of the major water lines sprung a leak, and they are attempting to fix the problem

I discovered a new road on my walk that simply ran into the jungle

It finally came out on the back side of some building

It turned out to be one of the government buildings where buses and road machinery are stored

Nearby a local was preparing plants for his farm somewhere on the island

I came across a large herd of goats, led by a very large white male. I had seen goats on the island, but always just one or two tied by the side of the road, or in someones yard.

This group of goats was just the front-end of a much larger group

There were quite a few baby goats among the group

They usually kept together as a group

and eventually followed the other group across the road

I was surprised how easily they moved in and out of the fenced areas--you could hardly tell there was even a fence there, they moved past it so easily

Once on the other side, they seemed to have found their home, with the large male herding them along to safety

Finally they found their way back home to their fenced enclosure

Just to Clarify, I do believe the smallish white goat with a fuzzy tail is a lamb. Make friends with that herder, mutton is hard to come by on the islands. Or am I wrong? It's been a while since I've been intimately (oh, heck. this is going to sound bad, but I can't spell aquaited) familar with baby goats. Anyway, nice job with the close ups.
