Tinian New Years Celebrations

Our New Year's Eve began with a special visitor: Jumicca, one of Terri's patients, came to give Terri a holiday gift, that included candy and...

a beautiful work of glass art

The lights at the new park were lit (although there was no one there-- they were all at Kammer beach (where the fireworks would be); or at the Dynasty Casino.

The Casino was all lit-up and ready for a large group of revelers-- both vacationers and locals

They had all kinds of holiday lights

and doormen to welcome the visitors...

Once inside, hundreds gathered together to count down the end of the year. A stage had been set-up and various performers sang and danced to entertain those who had come. Hats and noise-makers were abundant! There was food to be had (Ramon was working at the 'pizza booth'), and, I assume, there were things to drink...

Both children and adults were given the opportunity to perform

Joey (from the clinic) and a men's choir performed several numbers

At the stroke of midnight, fireworks could be seen several places on the island. The large display was provided by the Mayor at Kammer beach; but there were a number of private fireworks displays going off also. Here is just a taste!

This was the first year in a long time that Terri and I had not fallen asleep before the New Year came around... and it was not long after the fireworks went off that we nodded off.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone who enjoys reading this silly blog!
