Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Today is the Chinese new year-- the year of the Ox.

PTI, our phone and cable and Internet company has changed its name to IT&E. Perhaps their service will get better now that their name has changed!

Roadwork continues. They are putting yet another layer of road base down (this must be the 3rd or 4th since digging up the road.

I was put to shame this morning by a man walking his bike up the hill--probably returning from work. He was in a nice shirt and pants, and pushing a bike, and still beat me up the hill! Oh well...

All of my friends were at the top of the hill to cheer me on!

There continues to be new homes built, or refurbished up on Marpo Hieghts. This was an old home that had been damaged during the last typhoon. They are restoring in so someone can move back in.

This is an addition to an existing home. The construction are new rooms being built in front of the existing home, and a new penthouse on the roof.

Many people like to build penthouses-- even detached ones. Although I'm not sure I have actually seen anyone living or using these penthouses.

An interesting garden--they created a moat and are surrounding it with plants and flowers.

It rained very hard this morning. You can see all of the blossoms that were taken off by the driving rain, and now litter the ground.

Occasionally you will see a plant that has two colors, like this one.

But most of the time they are all one color

A catflower? watching over its garden

Some of the flowers are almost florescent in color

This road is being reworked after being damaged by heavy rains

From the top of Marpo Hieghts you can see the east ocean far off in the distance.

And you get a great view of the Carolinas
