A flowerful world

Tinian is a wonderland of beauty, whether naturally growing in the jungle, or carefully tended by the locals in their gardens!

Many create 'standing' gardens, by placing wood posts in the ground, and then putting flowers on the posts... I suppose you could call this a 'sitting' garden...

next to a standing garden!

Unlike wandering the jungle to find fresh fruit, many simply plant them in their yard-- and they don't even have to climb the tree like a monkey to get to the bananas!

The same is true for the coconuts-- in fact, you would probably have to bend over to pick these!

The new condo on the corner is progressing. They have removed the wood forms from the concrete structure...

and have begun to build the interior and exterior walls using cinder-block.

As I was walking past the Grace Christian Academy this morning, I heard a dog barking... from above me!? It took me a while to figure out what was going on... but then I discovered this guard dog on the roof. Perhaps there were so many angels gathering during their Sunday service, they decided they needed to shoo them away?
This odd structure sits behind the local gym. I am not sure what it is... perhaps an old well or something? There seem to be a lot of old Japanese and WWII structures around the island, and, at least for me, there is no way of discovering what they used to be for.

The new home up on Marpo Heights has been working hard at their landscaping

You can see both the beautiful garden they have planted, and the great view they have!

This house built on the hill has built a wood deck in front of their home in order to take-in the awesome view they have from here.

Not a bad view from one's front porch, eh?

I bet you didn't know we had miniature crocodiles here on Tinian, did you? Well, some of the bugs do get rather large...

This house, which has sat for almost a year, finally has windows and doors... just another sign of progress being made on the island.
