The end of the rainbow

Ever wonder what is at the end of the rainbow? Now we know: it is the island of Tinian!

There was a beautiful full rainbow this morning. It was so large, however, that I could not get the whole thing in one picture! This is one side....

and this is the other side

It seemed to hang around for a very long time, one end always touching our small island!

The roadwork was going fast this morning-- dump trucks were moving back and forth, laying new road base for the new road, and two large steam-rollers flattening it down.

And right in the middle of all of this work, a little patch of heaven...

While on the other end of the road, another large piece of equipment continues to dig up the old road--which can be tough, when it is limestone.

I discovered a hidden treasure, once buried by the jungle...

Someone's boat... waiting for the next Typhoon to bring it back to the ocean?

It is always amazing how clear the water is here. You can easily see the fish in the water, and can easily see all the way to the bottom, which must be 15' deep!

The trade winds have brought larger waves to the island than is typical, but the beaches continue to be a place of solitude and beauty.

This is the first large crab I have seen. There are lots of hermit crabs around, but one seldom sees this type of crab on the beaches.

I guess there are scouts around... although I have never seen them! Perhaps they only come out at night!
