Thanksgiving at the Hospital

Today, at noon, Terri and I shared a meal with the staff at the Tinian Hospital. A turkey with all the fixings was brought, along with some other favorite dishes and desserts that had been brought by members of the staff. Tables were set up at the main entrance to the clinic (the clinic was closed, so only the emergency entrance was open for clients), and chairs and benches lined the wall.

There were about twenty of us, including a few children who also came, and even two men who were working on the hospital addition (on a holiday?) were invited to share the bounty.

Some of the local dishes that were brought were: rice, pork dumplings, a noodle salad that was made by Dr. Toledo's mother, banana cake, a large chocolate cake, custard (like flan), fried chicken, homemade bread, ice cream, and even more stuff I can't remember!

After a prayer of thanks was said, we all feasted and laughed, and enjoyed each other's company. The food was good, lots of pictures and videos were taken, and then it was time to go. Everyone pitched-in to clean-up, and soon the hospital was back to normal again...and ready to serve the people of Tinian!
